JayaHadADream

The Voice Behind the Vision

Words By: Emily-Grace and Michael Morgan | Original Magazine

We first encountered JayaHadADream at Reading Festival last year. It was at the BBC Introducing Stage where she delivered a performance that stopped us in our tracks. Her presence, lyricism, and the way she held the crowd left a lasting impression. From that moment, we knew this was an artist we had to work with.

As we began shaping Vol.2, following the success of our first edition, the theme became clear. A focus on women and non-gender-conforming artists, and the impossible expectations placed on marginalised voices in the creative industry. JayaHadADream was the natural choice to lead this campaign. Fearless, grounded, and deeply compelling.

We brought the vision to life at Matter of Time Studio in Shoreditch, a warm, intimate space where creativity could unfold freely. With styling by Rebecca Evanswhite and makeup by Jemima Greenhalgh, the shoot flowed with intention. JayaHadADream stepped into the spotlight not just as an artist, but as a creative leader, bringing a calm confidence and a clear sense of direction. She guided the shoot with a maturity far beyond her years, shaping the energy and intention behind every frame.

Her lyrics say it all:

“These man are looking salty cause my sets are pepper, it’s hard to be a woman in this world of pressure. I take on the chin so I deserve the pleasure, two step back three forward so I made it count.”

These words hit home. They capture JayaHadADream’s own journey through a male-dominated space, while also speaking to a wider truth shared by many in the industry. Her ability to channel lived experience into sharp, resonant storytelling is what drew us to her.

Her presence shaped Vol.2 from the inside out, her words and vision anchoring the mood, message, and momentum of the entire issue.
