On April 17 th , 2023, surrounded by the exposed brick of Sunset Studios, ‘Blk Stripes’ and Original Magazines editorial was in operation. Here, the team of ambitious creative’s desire was to illustrate the importance of reusable fashion within their own areas of expertise.

Futuristic and neoteric, the ambience of the shoot was to incapsulate something other-worldly.

Spatters of black paint slathered across the models’ faces; silver chains strung across their bodies; and exceedingly ripped hanging cloth was the catalyst for achieving the team’s goal.

Whilst makeup artist, Temi Adele, was preparing the models, myself and photographer, Bree May, set up the lights and back drop for the shoot.

Transforming something as simple as silver party streamers into a crumpled layer of metallic material that could have been mistaken for the inside of an extraterrestrial space ship was; if not perfect, important for our vision. By taping individual party streamers to the wall and picking the correct lighting, we were ready for the models. Bree’s photography skills were breathtaking.

Imaginative, inventive, and visionary, her talent of revamping a simple photography into something extraordinary was majestic to watch.

Ines, a tender-hearted model selected for this project, posed towards the camera lens in an oversized black jacket doused in white paint with a serene look over her silver sunglasses, leaving the team entranced by her beauty.

Ines was enchanting, I have never seen anyone radiate such coolness. she embodied the remarkable expressiveness of ‘Blk Stripes’ had spent years accumulating.

From her poses to her audacious smiles to the photographer, we all knew our innovative ideas were coming to life.

Next to join the shoot was Kayta. With awe-inspiring poses oozing confidence, she blessed the camera with her incarnation of the futuristic elements of thebrand. Kayta’s gelled hair, thigh high boots, and slice fishnet sleeves emphasised the unutterable power of the dress she wore.

Masking as an unworldly creature or perhaps even a being in the “Matrix”, the magnetic pull of her poses through her exaggerated facial expressions and acrobatic movements were captivating, and left the team in astonishment and admiration.

A quick outfit change, splatters of black ink here and there, the models joined together for the remaining sector of the editorial. Sheathed in interconnecting chains, plentiful pairs of sunglasses, a sea of monochrome and a hint of metallic substance from the backdrop executed the perfect look for ‘Blk Stripes’.

Ripped cloth ad various chains distrusted among the collection of model’s looks came to a grand end with statement pieces that had no room for shame, and which were the epitome of the ultra modern look.

The editorial was an experience like no other.

A collection of contemporary fashion that knows no bounds was not the thing that impressed me the most; it was the team. A group of inventive creatives coming together to craft something spectacular, something momentous, something remarkable to each of us- it was strikingly beautiful to experience.
