Whilst working in London, commuting everyday from my home in Cambridge I have been drawings strangers on the train and gifting them the drawings. During that one hour train journey I wanted to capture other people on the same journey, whether they were sleeping, working or on the phone.

Drawing people in public is not new for me, I’ve always been interested in people and their form in various environments. Recently, I’ve been recording the process of drawing strangers in public, giving them the drawing, and seeing their reaction

Having only a limited time to capture these people on their journey, for me was exciting, not knowing when they would leave the train, I sketch as fast as possible which creates this kind of expressive style.

For me, the  artwork is more than just a sketch, its the persons reaction when I give them the drawing and the connection we are able to create. So far, there has been no negative reaction and afterwards it feels so nice to have made someone happy- you never know what kind of day someone may have had.

I am trying to draw at least one person per day, as it forces me to draw everyday, something which makes me happy and is good practise, but of course some days it is not possible and I want to keep it as an enjoyable process.

I am looking forward to where this takes me and its so nice knowing random strangers have my drawings in their homes!
